01What it sells and who buys it
Wiz helps security teams understand vulnerabilities, permissions and sensitive data across cloud accounts. It connects these signals so organizations can prioritize meaningful risks and coordinate remediation with developers.
02How the business makes money
Revenue comes from enterprise cloud-security software agreements. Connecting customer environments and demonstrating risk creates a basis for a broader organizational deployment.
03Marketing and customer acquisition
Wiz reduced deployment friction and clarified cloud risk, enabling large enterprise contracts.
- 01
Reduce installation and alert interpretation work
SourceAn agentless approach and connected risk information addressed deployment and interpretation pain. The company reports closing a multimillion-dollar contract six months after its first code, indicating an enterprise focus from the beginning.
- 02
Turn early contracts into repeatable growth
SourceWiz reported growth from $1 million ARR in February 2021 to $100 million in July 2022. Its deployment experience made actual cloud risks visible during customer evaluation.
- 03
Financing the next stage
SourceWiz raised $1 billion at a $12 billion valuation in May 2024. Google later announced a $32 billion acquisition, completed in March 2026. The financing valuation and the eventual sale are distinct wealth-creation events.
How the growth mechanism works
- Connect a cloud environment
- Identify actionable risk
- Secure a security contract
- Expand across environments
The founders brought prior security-company and Microsoft experience. Easier deployment and connected risk analysis reduced the time needed to demonstrate value. This was direct selling into existing enterprise security budgets, rather than a consumer sign-up strategy.

Acquired by Google
$32 billionGoogle announced $32 billion for the acquisition. A subsequent filing reported adjusted purchase consideration of $29.5 billion.
More about the founding and key events
Wiz’s founders had previously built a security company and worked at Microsoft. When they started Wiz in 2020, they focused on cloud security tools that generated too many alerts and made real risks difficult to understand. Reducing the need to install agents and connecting risk information became central to the product.
The company said it signed its first multimillion-dollar contract six months after writing its first code. Between February 2021 and July 2022, ARR grew from $1 million to $100 million. Wiz sold an easier-to-deploy product that helped customers with existing security budgets identify risks more quickly. The founders’ prior experience and relationships were part of their starting position.
Google announced completion of the acquisition in March 2026. The announced deal was $32 billion; the later accounting disclosure reported adjusted acquisition consideration on a different basis. Before the deal, Roy Reznik was estimated to be worth $2.2 billion at age 37 in 2025.
